Spitalfields Market

At the weekend I went to Spitalfields Market in London. The markets and shops there sell new and second-hand (vintage haha!)  clothes, reclaimed furniture, original artworks and great food. There has been a market on the site since 1638 when Charles I of England gave a licence for flesh, fowl and roots to be sold on Spittle Fields – which was then a rural area on the eastern outskirts of London. Luckily I didn’t see too much flesh and fowl. I did see some very interesting food though: falafels, cous cous, Chinese Dim Sum, Pitta bread wraps and vegan doughnuts! The cake stall was particularly impressive, I would like to try and veganise some of these little naughties!
