Lovely vegan cafe in Barcelona called Juicy Jones.
Slap-bang in the middle of Barcelona, in a side street off La Rambla (the Oxford Street of Barcelona), is the home of a great little vegan restaurant and juice bar called Juicy Jones. This funky little eatery has a fixed price three-course menu (around 10 Euros) available all day – with no price change in the evening!
The restaurant is downstairs with psychedelic, fluorescent murals. The staff are young, friendly and down-to-earth and the atmosphere is laid back.
I arrived hungry from a big trek round the city and started with the Turkish lentil soup, a thick mildly spiced winter warmer with rye bread. My main course was Moussaka and Greek salad. It was richly flavoured and very tasty but did resemble a cottage pie (aubergine and soya mince topped with potato). The chocolate cake I had for pudding was very nice – not too big and not too sweet.
Juicy Jones serves good, wholesome food that will set you up for the afternoon or evening and all for less than a tenner! You will leave feeling nicely full and healthy!
